Having Words – British Knights in Croatia- Andres Rodes
Interview by Jay Nowman
British Knights last week sent their Streetboard team to Split, Croatia, to explore the city and come back with a
few gigabytes of interlaced frames and pixels. There will be a full report coming in Issue 6 of Red Pen
Streetboard Magazine, which will be released at this year’s World Streetboard Championships in Shanghai, China.
Until then, we caught up with Andres Rodes at Barcelona’s notorious Apollo nightspot, via What’s App, to get a
few of the basic details out of the way and whet your appetite for the upcoming Issue.
Hey, can I do a quick catch up with you about the British Knights Croatia Tour?
I’m in Crappy Tuesdays with David La Rotta and a little drunk.
We are at the row of the party.
Have one for me. So how was the trip man? Which city was it?
Split, near Zagreb, Croatia.
Who was the crew?
The BK team, Sergi (Nicolas), David (La Rotta), Cristian (Dedeu), Gotthard (Pilsner), TK (Thomas Kienle) and me. All paid for by British Knights.
First time in that city?
What about the spots?
What a spots man (sic). A lot of rails, Kink rails, and ledges.
What was your favourite spot?
We found a perfect rail like 12 stairs. I could only skate two tricks because TK and Gotthard wanted to skate a lot. I need to relax, chill, when skating, and they were so motivated, going hard. But if we had this rail in BCN, buuuuffffff, what sessions we could do (sic).
How was the city in general?
The centre of the city was cool, like Roman Ruins. All the girls were pretty, but the locals were a little bit angry.
What do you mean angry?
I don’t know the real world like. If you said hello they don’t see you. I don’t know what I can’t explain. All the girls feel a godliness.
We’ll save the rest for the magazine. Any Thank you’s?
Special thanks to British Knights and Sergi for making this trip possible.
